Things to consider before buying a new ceiling fan
There are many different scenarios to consider when installing new ceiling fans into your home or business.
Many people rush into buying their new ceiling fans without considering key information that can affect the installation process, and the final outcome can be sometimes not what is expected and the cost far above what you budgeted for.
Take a look at our top 3 things to consider when buying and installing your new ceiling fans:
1 Is there enough support in my ceiling to hold up the new ceiling fans?
When Installing new ceiling fans, you should check to make sure that the existing ceiling construction will allow for the additional weight of your new ceiling fans.
It is never recommended to install ceiling fans directly into to gyprock as this is considered dangerous and unsafe. There should always be a structural timber available or installed to ensure your new ceiling fan is supported by the frame structure of your home or business.
2 Is my ceiling too high or too low for a ceiling fan?
When figuring out what type of ceiling fans you wish to install in your home or business, its best to consider the height requirements of your ceiling fan.
Most applications will be suited just fine to install a new ceiling fan, however, if your ceiling height is too low or too high, you may not be able to install a ceiling fan or you may need additional hardware or a different type of fan to suit the height requirements of your installation.
3 How do I want my fan to be wired?
A common issue when it comes to installing a new ceiling fan, is the cabling requirements.
People often purchase their new fans without first considering the cabling requirements and what existing cabling can be used or what new cabling is required to install your new ceiling fan.
Do you have access to your ceiling space? Is your ceiling fan going to replace an existing lighting point? Do you want to use a fan remote or have it controlled via a wall controller?
There are many things to consider in regards to the cabling requirements before installing your new ceiling fan. Our technicians can quickly determine the best solution for your requirements.
